As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Haryana is projected to be 31,409,000, or 31.41 million, or 3.14 crore, as of July 1, 2026. Haryana is the 16th most populous state in India. Haryana’s population is projected to reach 3.46 crore in 2036.
The size of the population of Haryana is equivalent to that of Cameroon, the 51st most populous country in the world.
In 2026, the sex ratio of the total population in Haryana will be 111.851 males per 100 females. There are 16,583,000, or 16.58 million, or 1.66 crore, males and 14,826,000, or 14.83 million, or 1.48 crore, females in Haryana. Haryana has 1,757,000, or 1.76 million, more males than females.
Haryana accounts for 2.20 percent of India's population, the highest since 1901. The population growth rate in 2026 is projected at 1.13%, the third-highest among states. Haryana will add 352,000 more people in 2026.
According to the Census of India 2011, the population of Haryana was 2.54 crore, increasing from 2.11 crore in 2001. There were 13,494,734 males and 11,856,728 females, with a sex ratio of 113.815 males per 100 females. The percentage of decadal growth during 2001–2011 was 19.90%, 8.53% less than the 1991–2001 period. The population of Haryana increased by 4.21 million during the decade 2001–2011.
