As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Nagaland is projected to be 2,258,000, or 2.26 million, or 22.58 lakh, as of July 1, 2024. Nagaland is the 24th most populous state in India. It is the fifth-largest state in northeastern India in terms of population. Nagaland’s population is projected to reach 24.62 lakh in 2036.
The size of the population of Nagaland is equivalent to that of Guinea-Bissau, the 129th most populous country in the world.
In 2024, the sex ratio of the total population in Nagaland will be 106.490 males per 100 females. There are 1,165,000, or 1.17 million, or 11.65 lakh, males and 1,094,000, or 1.09 million, or 10.94 lakh, females in Nagaland. Nagaland has 71,000 , or 71k, more males than females.
Nagaland accounts for 0.16 percent of the Indian population, 0.03% less than the peak of 0.19% in 2001. The population growth rate in 2024 is projected at 0.89%, the 15th highest among states. Nagaland will add 20,000 more people in 2024.
