List of Countries by GDP Sector Composition

The figures are based on GDP (nominal) and sector composition ratios provided by the World Bank. Agriculture includes forestry, hunting, and fishing, as well as cultivation of crops and livestock production. Industry includes mining, manufacturing, construction, electricity, water, and gas. Services include value added in wholesale and retail trade (including hotels and restaurants), transport, and government, financial, professional, and personal services such as education, health care, and real estate services. Also included are imputed bank service charges, import duties, and any statistical discrepancies noted by national compilers, as well as discrepancies arising from rescaling.

Agriculture Sector: As of 2024, the agriculture sector contributes 4.05 percent of the total world's economic production. Total production of the sector is $4,493,376 million. China is the largest contributor, followed by India. The world's largest economy, the United States, is in third place. Next in line come Indonesia and Brazil.

Out of 208 economies, in four economies, the agriculture sector is the dominant sector of their economy. Somalia has 55.79% of their GDP from the agricultural sector and is the only country to receive more than 50% of their GDP from the agricultural sector. The world's largest country, the United States, has only 0.96% of GDP in the agriculture sector.

Industry Sector: With a GDP of $28,442 billion, the industry sector holds a share of 25.63% of total nominal GDP. China is the largest contributor, followed by the United States. Japan is in 3rd place, and Germany is in 4th place.

The industry sector is the leading sector of 12 countries. Guyana has the highest share of 76.03% of their GDP. 8 countries have more than 50% of their value added from industry.

Services Sector: The services sector is the largest sector of the world, as 63.33 percent of total global wealth comes from the services sector, with a total value added of 67,596 billion. The United States is the largest producer of the services sector, with around 18.09 trillion USD. The services sector is the leading sector in 192 countries/economies. 11 countries receive more than 80 percent of their GDP from the services sector.
