Uttar Pradesh has the 3rd largest economy among Indian states, as the GDP of the state in the year 2024-25 is estimated at ₹29.78 lakh crore. With 17.02% of the country's population, Uttar Pradesh contributed 8.77% to the national GDP in 2023-24. Uttar Pradesh is trailing 2nd-ranked Tamil Nadu by only ₹46,086 crore and is ahead of 3rd-ranked by ₹85,636 crore.
Uttar Pradesh has a GDP (nominal) of around 352 billion US dollars in 2024. The economy of Uttar Pradesh is equivalent to that of Czechia, the 43rd largest economy in the world.
Uttar Pradesh's real GSDP growth rate for 2024-25 was 8.99%, the 4th highest in India. During the period 2012-24, it has the average growth rate of 5.90%, the 16th highest in the country.
In 2024-25, Uttar Pradesh’s per capita income was ₹1.09 lakh, almost half of the national average. In terms of NSDP per capita, Uttar Pradesh is the 2nd poorest state behind Bihar. The NSDP per capita of Uttar Pradesh is 1.57 times that of the lowest state, Bihar. The nominal GDP per capita of Uttar Pradesh is estimated at 1,428 dollars in 2024; that is equivalent to that of Nepal, the 165th richest economy in the world.
In 2024-25, the services (tertiary) sector contributed 47.26% of the state’s Gross State Value Added (GSVA), followed by the primary sector (26.83%) and the secondary sector (25.91%).
