Projected GDP per capita Ranking

Liechtenstein is projected to rank first in both nominal and PPP GDP per capita in 2026. It is expected to remain at the top of the rankings for the next few years, leading second-ranked Luxembourg by nearly US$68,000 in nominal GDP per capita and second-ranked Singapore by around Int.$21,000 in PPP GDP per capita.

In the nominal GDP per capita rankings, the 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-ranked economies each maintain a lead of about US$15,000–20,000 over the next-ranked economy. In contrast, the 5th-, 6th-, and 7th-ranked economies are separated by only narrow margins, making that part of the rankings much more competitive.

In the nominal GDP rankings, two changes are expected within the top 10 in 2026. Iceland is projected to overtake Singapore, while the Netherlands is expected to replace Macao. Among the top 50 economies, Guyana is projected to record the biggest improvement, climbing seven places, followed by Israel, which is expected to rise four positions. In contrast, Japan is projected to experience the largest decline, falling five places, followed by Qatar, which is expected to drop four positions.

In the PPP GDP per capita rankings, three changes are expected within the top 10 in 2026. Ireland is projected to move up to third place, overtaking Luxembourg, which is expected to slip to fourth. Norway and Taiwan are also projected to move ahead of Qatar and Brunei, respectively. Among the top 50 economies, Guyana is projected to record the largest improvement, climbing five places, followed by Poland, which is expected to rise four positions.

Among the top 50 richest economies by GDP per capita, Guyana is projected to record the highest growth rate in 2026 at 16.17%, followed by Taiwan at 5.18%. In contrast, Qatar is expected to post the lowest growth rate among the top 50 economies.

The GDP per capita rankings are dominated by smaller economies. Among the top 10 economies by nominal GDP per capita, only three—the United States, Switzerland, and the Netherlands—also rank among the world's top 20 economies by nominal GDP. Similarly, among the top 10 economies by PPP GDP per capita, only three—Singapore, Taiwan, and Switzerland—are among the top 40 economies by GDP (PPP).
