As of July 1, 2026, Latin America's and the Caribbean's population is projected to reach 672,135,561 (672 million), up from 667,888,552 (668 million) on July 1, 2025. The region's population is expected to grow by another 59 million, reaching a peak of 731 million in 2053.

Latin America and the Caribbean account for 8.10% of the world population and 63.3% of the total population of the Americas. The region's share of the global population peaked at 8.45% in 2002 and is projected to decline to nearly 6% by the end of the century.

Latin America and the Caribbean have a population growth rate of 0.62% in 2026, significantly lower than the peak of 2.76% recorded in 1961. The region's annual population growth rate remained above 2% from 1950 to 1985 before beginning a long-term decline.

Latin America and the Caribbean are projected to add 4.17 million people in 2026, about half the peak annual increase of 8.29 million recorded in 1990. This represents a decline of approximately 4.12 million people in the annual increase compared with the 1990 peak.
