As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Rajasthan is projected to be 83,060,000, or 83.06 million, or 8.31 crore, as of July 1, 2025. Rajasthan is the sixth-most populous state in India. Rajasthan’s population is projected to reach 9.08 crore in 2036.

The size of the population of Rajasthan is equivalent to that of Germany, the 19th most populous country in the world. Only one country in South America, two in Europe and North America, and four in Africa have more people than Rajasthan.

In 2025, the sex ratio of the total population in Rajasthan will be 104.945 males per 100 females. There are 42,532,000, or 42.53 million, or 4.25 crore, males and 40,528,000, or 40.53 million, or 4.05 crore, females in Rajasthan. Rajasthan has 2,004,000, or 2.00 million, more males than females.

Rajasthan accounts for 5.86 percent of the Indian population, the highest since 1901. The population growth rate in 2025 is projected at 1.06%, the 7th highest among states. Rajasthan will add 872k more people in 2025, the 5th highest among states.

According to the Census of India 2011, the population of Rajasthan was 6.85 crore, increasing from 5.65 crore in 2001. There were 35,550,997 males and 32,997,440 females, with a sex ratio of 107.739 males per 100 females. The percentage of decadal growth during 2001–2011 was 21.31%, 7.1% lower than the 1991–2001 period. The population of Rajasthan increased by 12.04 million during the decade 2001–2011.

The population of Rajasthan, which at the turn of the twentieth century was around 10.29 million, increased by approximately 8.07 times in 123 years to reach 83.06 million in 2025. Rajasthan was the 10th most populous state, but as of 2025, it has overtaken Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha.
