List of Asian countries by GDP

China is the largest economy in Asia, followed by Japan, India, South Korea, and Indonesia. These five together hold a huge 74.5% share of the Asian economy. Timor-Leste is the smallest economy in Asia.

Seven economies of Asia would have gdp above $1 trillion, and 24 would have an economy of above $100 billion. In 2024, Bangladesh might be overtaken by Philippines, Vietnam and Iran. Iran might overtake Malaysia too. Three Asian economies are in the list of top ten largest economy in the world, and 20 economies are within the top 50 world gdp ranking.

Out of 49 economies, gdp (nominal) of 41 economies would increase, and 8 economies would decrease in 2024 compared to 2023. With $871 bn, China will be the top contributor, accounting for almost half of the increase in the Asian economy. India ($365 bn) and Indonesia ($105 bn) are other top contributors. Japan would be top decliner.

In ppp data, the five largest economies of Asia are China, India, Japan, Indonesia, and Türkiye. 15 economies would have gdp above Int. $1 trillion in 2024 and 33 would have an economy of above Int. $100 billion. Pakistan will overtake Thailand. Four Asian economies are in the list of top ten largest economies globally, and 21 economies are within the top 50 world gdp (ppp) ranking.

Out of 49 economies, gdp (ppp) of 46 economies would increase, and three economies would decrease in 2024 compared to 2023. China (Int. $2360 bn), India (Int. $1252 bn), Indonesia (Int. $329 bn), Japan (Int. $214 bn), and Türkiye (Int. $203 bn) would be the top gainers. The three decliners would be West Bank and Gaza, Afghanistan and Timor-Leste.

All economies have higher GDP on a PPP basis, except West Bank and Gaza, whose 2024 data is not available in IMF list. Lao P.D.R. has highest ppp to nominal ratio of 5.18, while Israel have lowest figure of 1.04.
