List of European Union countries by GDP

Germany is the largest economy in the European Union, followed by France and Italy. These three together make up over half of the European Union economy. Spain and the Netherlands complete the top five lists. The top five represent almost 67% share. Malta is the smallest economy in the EU.

Six economies of the European Union would have a GDP above $1 trillion, and 21 would have an economy above $100 billion. Three European Union economies are in the top ten largest economies globally, and 15 economies are within the top 50 world GDP rankings.

The GDP (nominal) of all 27 economies would increase in 2025 compared to 2024. Germany ($329 bn), France ($201 bn), and Italy ($172 bn) will be the top contributors.

In PPP data, the five largest economies of the European Union are Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland. Six economies would have a GDP above Int. $1 trillion in 2025, and 23 would have an economy above Int. $100 billion. Two European Union economies are in the top ten list, and 12 economies are within the top 50 world GDP rankings.

None of the European Union economies would see a decrease in 2025 compared to 2024. Germany (Int. $158 bn), Spain (Int. $145 bn), France (Int. $137 bn), and Poland (Int. $110 bn) would be the top gainers.

All European Union economies have higher GDP on a PPP basis. Romania has the highest PPP to nominal ratio of 2.177, while Luxembourg has the lowest figure of 1.038.
