Top 10 largest economies by GDP

India is the most populous country in Asia, followed by China. These two countries together share close to 60% of Asia's population. The other six countries with a total number of humans above 100 million are Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. The top five countries together hold a huge 74.38% share of the Asia population. As of 2025, 30 countries/territories have a population above 10 million. The least populous country in Asia is Brunei Darussalam. Four countries/dependent territories in Asia have a population below one million.

Five Asian countries are on the list of the top ten most populous countries globally, as it hosts India and China, the world's top two most populous countries. The other three Asian countries in the top ten are Indonesia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Nineteen countries are within the top 50 world population ranking.

Out of 51 countries/territories, the population of 41 would increase, and ten countries would decrease in 2025. India would be the top contributor to the total population increment in 2025. India accounts for 45.24 percent of the total population increase in Asia. The Indian population would increase by 12.8 million, followed by Pakistan (4.03 million) and Indonesia (2.2 million). Six countries will add at least ten million humans in 2025. China (-3.28 million) is the top decliner, followed by Japan (-663k) and Jordan (-108k).

Oman would have the highest population growth rate of 3.52% in 2025, followed by the Syrian Arab Republic (3.51%). These two are the only countries in Asia with a growth rate above 3%. Eight countries have a growth rate above 2%. Eight countries are on the list of the world's top 50 fastest-growing nations.

In 1950 and 2000, Qatar and the Maldives were the least populous countries in Asia, respectively. Now Brunei Darussalam will remain the least populous country until 2100. Macao will become the least populous region in Asia by 2100.
